NPDRx Company Overview
Our company was founded in October of 2002, on the notion of supplying less expensive prescription medication to the general population. After many conversations with our families, friends, and doctors, we came to the conclusion that too many people (of all ages) were paying extremely inflated prices for their essential medication.
Due to the ever increasing costs of prescription medication, more and more Americans are turning to Canada for fulfillment, where they can save up to sixty percent. In addition to individuals, many self-insuring organizations and governments are also looking to the North to reduce their reimbursement obligations to their members. By virtue of this rise in demand for Canadian medication, there has been an explosion of online “cross-border” pharmacies and programs (both good and bad) to meet this need. Although some pharmacies have better features than others, none possess the crucial elements, inherent to the NPDirectRx (NPDRx) system, to withstand the scrutiny of the FDA and pharmaceutical companies.
NPDRx is a dynamic program designed to revolutionize the process of obtaining patient prescription medications directly from their NPs' offices, and at discount prices. Through its web-based functionality, NPDRx allows for ease in order placement and tracking, pharmacy fulfillment, customer service, accounting, and statistical viewing. This dynamic solution automates the interaction between the individual, nurse practitioner, and pharmacy.
NPDRx offers a solution that addresses safety concerns shared by some. NPDRx will only allow prescriptions to be filled with the “electronic” approval of the patients’ health care professionals. Through the use of NPDRx, the potential abuses of multiple fulfillment and/or forged or falsified information is eliminated. Moreover, we only use licensed pharmacies possessing the highest standards for order fulfillment. We go to great lengths to assure that these standards are being upheld and that customers using the program receive quality care.

NPDRx Products & Services
NPDRx is a web-based system designed to streamline and secure the process of Americans obtaining their prescription medication from Canada. Essentially, NPDRx is an upgrade to the ordering processes currently used by the other “cross-border” programs and has become the premier process for pharmacy order fulfillment.
1) NPDRx focuses on the use of the nurse practitioner. We feel that this is the key to the program and is what sets us apart from the others.
- All nurse practitioners/clinics participating in the program receive websites that serve as outlets for their patients to purchase their medication. All websites are user friendly and are customizable to the nurse practitioner/clinic (please view the program process overview for greater detail).
- In addition to offering prescription medication at the reduced Canadian pricing, NPDRx eliminates the patients’ potential abuses of the “cross-border” programs. No orders can be sent through the system without the approval of the nurse practitioner, thereby expelling the pharmacy from filling orders with forged and/or falsified information.
- Most nurse practitioner office personnel spend between 5-10 minutes on hold with a local pharmacy while calling in a script for their patients. NPDRx reduces this time allowing the nurse practitioner’s office to operate more efficiently. Patients using NPDRx for the first time will spend no more than 2 minutes entering the required information for their order. Once the patient’s profile is in the system, future orders will take less than 1 minute to complete.
2) Through the use of NPDRx, Canadian pharmacies are more efficient in order fulfillment.
- The average filling times of NPDRx pharmacies are lower than those not on the system, due to its web-based functionality. With manual order submission, illegible faxed order forms and prescriptions must be clarified by the pharmacist by telephone or fax. This can significantly increase the time required to process an order.
- NPDRx has the ability to interface directly with any Canadian pharmacy’s current database, thereby eliminating the need for manual order entry and any potential errors associated with that task. Additionally, when the pharmacy updates orders during the fulfillment process this current information is available to NPDRx users.
- NPDRx cuts faxing costs to the pharmacy, clinic, and patient.
3) NPDRx has the ability to add pharmacies to the system as desired.
- NPDRx solves medication supply issues with this feature.
- Pharmacies located in different Canadian Provinces may possess varied product offerings.
- Shipping times may be expedited by choosing a pharmacy located in closer proximity to the patient.
- This feature allows NPDRx to offer lower pricing through pharmacy competition.
4) NPDRx has accounting and website history sections built in to the system.
- This allows for easy payment tracking and “up to the minute” figures.
- System users will be able to view website statistics such as visitor counts, sales, and order details.
5) Patients have the ability to track their orders through NPDRx. Order status and shipment tracking is available at all times via the NPDRx website.
6) The ordering of refills through NPDRx is a quick user friendly process and requires no nurse practitioner and/or office staff involvement, provided there are refills remaining from the original order.
7) There is an Email Center section available to all participating health care providers.
- NPDRx members may mass email patients to convey any information that they deem necessary.
- Members may also respond to individuals that join their email lists.
8) Help with the NPDRx system is readily available and offered in many forms.
- Customer support/service may be handled through email, phone support, or online using the various FAQ sections.
- Training on the system will be provided by a NPDRx representative.
9) A unique benefit of the NPDRx system is its adaptability. Most of the technology that is required to perform additional tasks, not currently possessed by the system, can be built from existing programming. Therefore, changes to NPDRx are relatively easy and customizable.

NPDRx Program Overview
This program may be used by an entire clinic, a group of nurse practitioners, or a single practice, therefore all references made to "nurse practitioner" below will encompass all of the aforementioned users. Please note: There is No Cost associated with patient and/or nurse practitioner participation. Program details are as follows:
1) Nurse Practitioner signs up via the NPDRx website, sales rep., email, or phone inquiry:
- All nurse practitioner information is entered by NPDRx (website address, nurse practitioner signature(s), office details, etc.) and can be changed by the nurse practitioner, at any time, by using their admin section. All nurse practitioners within a group/clinic wanting to participate, must have their required information entered to become a member of the program.
- The nurse practitioner receives their own customized website, activated by NPDRx.
- Their site is ready to accept orders.
2) The nurse practitioner is now part of the NPDRx program:
- The nurse practitioner now has their own website to which they may refer their patients. The site may be updated to include specific NP's information, as well as, communicate office details and hours.
- By entering their username and password nurse practitioners may log in to their site's admin, and perform, among other things: View, approve, or reject orders, update site details/info, view site statistics by nurse practitioner/month/year, contact customer service, and obtain NPDRx Help. The admin section should be checked daily to approve orders (if necessary) and place orders from within the NP's office.
- The nurse practitioner is given a complete NPDRx reference manual, as well as, pamphlets with their specific name and web address attached, to hand out to patients. These pamphlets may be placed throughout the office using holders provided by NPDRx.
3) Patients interested in NPDRx may have their order placed in one of two ways:
- Directly by the nurse practitioner or staff during the patient's visit. Prescriptions filled in this manner would be ordered through the NP's admin, and will automatically have a status of "Approved." Placement in this fashion would require no further interaction by the nurse practitioner or staff for NPDRx to begin processing.
- Patients order, through the nurse practitioner's website, from home or another location. Prescriptions filled this way will have a status of "Awaiting Approval", and will need to be "Approved" by the nurse practitioner or staff before NPDRx processing will commence. "Approving" orders is a very quick and easy task and may be accomplished at anytime by reviewing the order in the nurse practitioner's admin section.
4) Once an order has been placed and its status is "Approved":
- All customer service will be handled by NPDRx. This includes, but is not limited to: Credit processing, shipment tracking, updating orders, and answering all inquiries.
- Current order status and particulars are available at anytime to both the patient and nurse practitioner. Patients may view this information by visiting the NP's website, and the nurse practitioner may use both their website and admin to obtain these details.
5) The patient's prescription is filled and shipped to the address provided:
- The order is filled by a licensed pharmacy in Canada. All pharmaceuticals are manufacturer sealed, and are shipped directly to the patients address of choice.
- If the prescription was entered with Refills, the patient may generate these either by using their nurse practitioner's website, or dealing directly with NPDRx customer service. The nurse practitioner's site will allow for refills until there are no more available for that particular order. Note: No nurse practitioner involvement is required in the refill process.
- Any delivery or refill inquiries should be directed to NPDRx customer service.
- The order process is now complete.

NPDRx Program Advantages
1) NPDRx Addresses Safety:
This is the most important concern raised by the FDA, and we have the only true solution to answer these concerns.
- Faxing scripts to pharmacies allow for the potential abuse of multiple pharmacy fulfillment.
- Mailing original scripts still allows for multiple pharmacy fulfillment because an individual may copy the prescription and fax it to additional pharmacies.
- Calling in scripts by the nurse practitioners’ office may be abused because it is difficult to determine the individual making the call.
- Verifying approved fax numbers is possible, but improbable. There are methods to bypass the approval measures, and verification processes can be cost prohibitive.
Using NPDRx, scripts are sent to the pharmacy through the “electronic” approval of the health care provider.
2) Expansion of Beneficiary Potential:
A unique characteristic of NPDRx is that it is tailored to the health care provider, not to the individual.
- A “city solution” becomes a “community solution.” Due to the nurse practitioners’ involvement with NPDRx, every patient has the opportunity to benefit from the program. A system set up in this manner has a potential beneficiary list as large as the community population, rather than non-NPDRx programs that will only benefit city/state employees.
3) Increased Pharmacy Efficiency:
Pharmacies will save time and money through NPDRx’s utilization.
- There is no longer a need to verify faxed prescriptions and information.
- All information passed through NPDRx is legible and will not require any additional clarification by the pharmacy.
- Customer service responsibilities will be reduced.
- NPDRx has the ability to import information into the pharmacy’s internal database, thereby increasing efficiency and decreasing manual order entry and errors.
- Turn around times are faster due to the elimination of faxes and mail.
4) Specialization of the Pharmacy:
- NPDRx lets the pharmacy concentrate on their most important task: Order Fulfillment.
- NPDRx handles most of the logistics that are counter productive to pharmacies, which makes them more productive and cost efficient.
5) Flexibility:
- NPDRx has the ability to capture any required information, thereby making any requested reports a possibility.
- NPDRx can be customized to meet the specific needs of a city/state.
